So my rabbit is about a year old and I’ve started changing his food from the Oxbow Young Rabbit Food to the Oxbow Adult Rabbit Food. I’ve been slowly transitioning like the bag says and I’ve noticed that he doesn’t like the adult food. Every time I feed him he runs to the door and starts devouring the young pellets like usual but he leaves most of the adult ones and picks through for the young ones. I’m trying to get him to like them because they are what’s recommended for his health but I don’t know what to do now. He still eats plenty of hay and veggies and all of the young ones but just doesn’t seem to want to eat the adult ones. In the beginning when I was giving a small amount of the adult ones and mostly young ones he ate it all but now it’s about 50-50 and he mainly only eats the young ones. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

Him eating less pellets currently won’t hurt. It’s only supposed to be a supplement food really anyway. I’d persist with giving him a mix of the 2, even try doing less then 50% of the junior pellet. Another thing that is worth a try is pre mixing a portion the two types and storing in separate container. The adult pellets may take on aroma of the junior pellets and he might be more inclined to try them..

Buns can be stubborn with pellet transistions, but stick with it!

Thanks! I’m going to definitely put some together in a container tomorrow because it’s pretty late right now but it’s worth a try for sure. Tomorrow was when I’m supposed to give 3/4 adult and 1/4 junior anyways so I’ll increase that as well.

My bunnies were exactly the same, it got to a point where they’d eat all their junior pellets and they’d leave the adult ones but eventually go back to them. By the time I was just giving them adult pellets, they were happy to eat them but they weren’t as enthusiastic. After a few weeks they started going crazy for them so just keep persisting
