Rabbit pees in his own bed

Hi, there. My fiancee and I got a lovely little silver Havana bunny for Christmas. He’s about four or five months old. We have a lot of animals, so he’s not free range yet, though he does get a lot of supervised floor time. He lives in a three level cage, and generally he’s pretty neat for a baby. But we just got him a comfortable new plush bed and he will not stop peeing in it. He doesn’t pee in his litter box, or through his cage bottom. And he sleeps in this bed all the time, so it’s getting pretty disgusting. The occasionally poop was no problem, because I would just dump it out, but this morning his bed was soaked. I have no clue how to get him to stop peeing in it, but he seriously loves this bed, so I don’t want to just take it away. 

He’s not neutered yet, but we did just find a vet in the area that works with bunnies, so he’ll be going in soon. Will that help? Any suggestions? Most of the posts here were about rabbits peeing on your bed, not their own.

Unfortunately that is very common for rabbits to pee on soft things. I would just take it out because it will most likely continue happening. Neutering may help – sometimes yes, sometimes no.

My dwarf has always had the notion that soft things are for peeing on. She is 8 years old and still does it so I hope in your case that a neuter will help. I’d love for my rabbits cage not to look like a prison cell, but I can’t wash the towels everyday.
