rabbit peed on my foot =.=

So Luna decided she wanted to pee on my foot. This is the first time it happened. She followed me then sort of circled my legs (nowadays both luna and venus are doing that more often), then she proceeded to pee on my foot. I was like why does my foot feel warm (i was wearing socks) and I realized its her peeing on my foot. I moved my foot out of the way since I was startled and caught off guard, and the urine got on my carpet (Which made me really upset since I’m in a rush and I had to clean the urine with the pet urine cleaner before I leave to class. Of course, I wasn’t also happy about her peeing on me either so I put her back in her cage and closed the door. (I have to leave for class real soon so either way they were going back in their cage). Why did she suddenly decide to urinate on my foot? anybody know??

If they are starting to circle you, they could be trying to do their mating dance to get your attention. The peeing on you could be them claiming you as their mate

Mikey is probably right. She didn’t do it out of spite but as a declaration of love. Bunny courtship consists of circling, following around, nipping and peeing on the object of desire (you).

oh that makes sense. Can this also be because both my baby buns aren’t spayed yet? will this “declaration of love” by peeing on object of desire stop once I get them fixed? haha I’m really glad that they love me since I love them too, but I really don’t want bunny pee on my feet or carpet in the future. I’ve been noticing that now they follow me around sometimes nowadays, stare at me more often when I’m relaxing on my bed, and sometimes circle my feet, which is really dangerous when I’m walking and don’t notice them so close D: I let them have almost full run of my room when I’m home now. They never pee on the carpet which is great except today when Luna decided to “mark” me.
They also hop out of their cage a lot now when I’m walking around my room, but when I’m on my bed relaxing, they go back into their “home” and eat/relax. Today is the first time they came out when I came off my bed to clean their cage before I going to bed. They came up to me when I sat on the floor and allowed me to pet them outside of their cage, which has never happened before. I’m going to assume I’m doing a good job with the bonding right? these are good signs??

It will most likely stop after they are spayed. I just read on another website of an adult neutered male circling and honking at his owner. The posters are assuming he has high instincts to breed due to the season. Circling can be dangerous, i agree. I have a young male who has begun circling me, so i have to do this slow/weird shuffle walk so i dont accidentally bump him over

Yes, the circling is really dangerous. Now they like to run up towards me when I’m trying to clean out their cage, lift their litter box, walk around my room etc and I always almost end up knocking them over because I don’t see them or they get in my way the last moment D:

Honking sounds like soft, kind of nasal noises in the throat… I’ve only had buns who hum, not honk. I think that both female and male can honk and the circling is, like bam and Mikey said, a mating “dance.”

Both boys and girls can honk. And some buns never make any kind of sounds. It varies a lot.
Spaying will take care of the courtship-issue. I take it they are both girls? If not, you need to separate them right away because they’re getting ready to start a family.

Edit: And yes, you are doing a good job of bonding with them since they approach you when they’re out. They wouldn’t unless they felt it’s safe to be close to you.

Oh I see, I hope my rabbits honk haha That sounds super cool that rabbits can honk. They purr pretty loudly so I think they are pretty vocal. Venus gave me bunny butt yesterday because she escaped her playpen and I needed to grab her and put her back in or else she could’ve gotten hurt, stuck, or electrocuted by biting on my chords. She wasn’t happy at all when I tried to get her… She ran off under the drawer and it took me an eternity to try and get her to come out… She turned and flicked her foot at me to show her “attitude” so I did the same to show my unhappiness with her actions lol. She came around later in the evening though.

I have a lot of fun with them when they are out. They are just lazy lil bums though most of the time. They like to stay inside their “home” and eat/sleep/drink. It’s nice to see them jump over me and put their paws on my lap when I’m sitting on the floor once in a while.

These behaviors usually go away after surgery when the hormones are out of the equation. Might take a few weeks or a month, but soon enough! In the meantime, maybe try to contain them to a tiled area with throw rugs that can be washed, just in case!

I don’t have a tile area either than my bathroom

After peeing on my foot and everything, Luna stopped the behavior because I think one mark was good enough for her haha

They haven’t peed on my carpet since the incident but now they do follow me like baby ducks so I always have to be careful not to squash them when I’m walking. I’m pretty tall so sometimes it can be a lil difficult to keep my balance when they decide to walk between my legs though. They are so cute despite their craziness lol
