Rabbit keeps peeing out of litter box?

I posted a week ago. I have an almost 7 month female rabbit who was supposed to be spayed today but I lost the appointment and won’t have another until late November/ early December. So now I have to wait to have this situation fixed. She pees all over her cage and will only poo in her litter box. She uses a grated corner pan since she likes digging and eating her litter (yesterday’s news) and she suffers from an over production of cecals (i clean up more than 6-10 a day) I need to temporarily stop this and I don’t know if maybe I should try getting a cat litter instead. She also poos and pees everywhere when I let her lose but when I leave her on my bed she doesn’t dirty anything. Her brother has always been very clean and has never had a problem with being dirty even before we had him neutered. Also when is a good time to introduce them? I want them to eventually bond so I can join their condos together. He has been neutered for almost two months now.

I am sorry you lost your appointment. That stinks. I wonder if your litter box is too small. I just switched from a jumbo corner one to a cat box and my guy likes it much better. Also, my bun wouldn’t use the litterbox with the grate on top consistently. I had to take it off. Do you put hay in the box? Maybe more of a screen with hay on top would be better than a grate? I am not sure the type of litter would change anything. Have you tried other litters? All I know is that when I tried a corner box with a grate my bun’s perfect litter habits stopped and he started peeing on the floor instead. He would still poo in the box but didn’t want to pee in it. Maybe other members would be able to help you with the digging/eating litter since mine doesn’t do that. As far as bonding, definitely get your girl spayed first before you introduce them. I would think that if you give her a few weeks (up to a month in some buns) to let all of her hormones regulate she should be fine to start bonding with your boy. I would hold off on introducing them until they are ready to start the bonding process because hormones can cause some negative reactions, even if your boy is fixed. I would hate them to hold a grudge before the bonding process even starts.

Also, I have two litter boxes. One in his enclosure and one out in his exercise area. This has helped him tremendously.

I wish I had advice as I’ve been looking for this answer for the longest time! My little lady was spayed when she was young yet still pees where she desires. The soaking up the pee with the paper towel and putting it in the litterbox has not helped her to know to pee there at all. 80% of pees make it in the box and when I see her do it I always show her praise. But then there’s that 20% that can just never make it in there. Hopefully the spay will help, but it didn’t help with mine so be prepared for that too.
