Boo and Rollo were doing their usual and snuggling in front of my radiator. I noticed Boo stick her head under Rollos butt then come up chewing. I went over to see what she had eaten but she had swallowed it by the time i got there.

It could be that she just found a tasty bit of dust (what is it with rabbits being total dust hoovers?) or she may have eaten one of Rollos cecal pellets.

Just wondering if this is harmful. I have read that sick rabbits can sometimes be given cecals harvested from healthy bunnies. Rollo is 100% healthy apart from being deaf in one ear. So i shouldnt envisage a problem. But if it isnt harmful is this normal behaviour?

If Rollo is healthy, then I wouldn’t worry about it. Can’t say for sure if it’s normal or not to be honest.

If bunnies are having issues with bacterias imbalance in their tummies, cecals from a healthy bunny can help restore the balance of good and bad bacterias. So, my guess is that even if Boo did eat his cecal, it’s not going to harm her at all.
