Rabbit ear health

I’ve noticed my rabbit scratching at the base of her ears and shaking her head occasionally for about 2 months. I know ear mites can be an issue in rabbits so I’ve looked inside her ears and they are very clean. No sign of debris or an ear wax build up, they look perfect. Could she still have ear mites without a visible sign of them?

Grooming the ears is generally normal. If she’s shedding, sometimes a stray fur strand tickles or gets into their ears, making them scratch it. Shaking isn’t as common on it’s own, but if it’s shaking paired with the grooming behavior, that’s normal.

Best advice is always to go to a vet for a general check up so they can use their otoscopes to look closely in the ear. Also, like humans, the ear canals, nasal passages, and sinus pathways are all fairly close to each other, so worst case scenario, something is off which is making her react this way.
