My rabbit Ziggy seems very cold and hasn’t been very active but he is eating normally. He had GI stasis a couple of months ago so I am very concerned.

Can you give us a little bit more info about Ziggy? Is he pooping? Does he live indoors or outdoors? Is all of him cold or just the ears? When did you discover that he was cold? Is he a new rabbit (with you)?

Ziggy is an indoor rabbit. His whole body is cold except his neck. I discovered he was cold when he flopped and his eyes were rolling about 3 hours ago and he is 2 years old, been with me since he was 8 weeks.

He seems to be a bit better now although I am staying with him just to make sure.

If he seems really cold maybe he could sit in your lap for a bit? You can put a light fleece blanket on him and warm him up with your own body heat. That would warm him up without any risk of over-heating.

Does he show any other symptoms? Are his eyes still rolling? Buns can get balance isues from an ear infection or a parasite called e cuniculi, and that can give symptoms like rolling (or “darting”) eyes and falling over.

If he seems cold maybe move him off the floor if he’s on the floor and add a blanket. (Make sure he doesn’t chew it, that can cause him to get blocked and can cause death unless emergency surgery is done.) you could hold a heating pad on your lap and keep him on it on top of a towel or blanket, or just hold him.
