Hey guys!
New user here from Australia.
Have followed these forums for AGES and have loved the greater majority of information that’s I’ve found on it.
So, there’s a HUGE back story to this, I’m going to cut through it as quickly as I can.
Basically, I rescued a Dwarf Lop (Misty) and a Mini Rex (Axel), both desexed, in the middle of last year 2015 and then re-homed them to my partner’s house (we live separately) in November.
They were about 3.5years old and lived together forever.
About two-three weeks after giving them to their new forever home, the Mini Rex passed away super suddenly. We found him basically paralyzed with his face and front legs in his water bowl. We try to get some life back into him and got a little bit and we took him straight to the emergency vet (it was about 1am). Unfortunately even on fluids and food he passed away and went to the rainbow bridge at 6am that same morning.
About a week later, we noticed Misty’s behaviour (The Dwarf Lop) change suddenly and so we rushed her straight to the vet. We found out she had a burred molar and ear infections to the point they’d ruptured her ear drums. According to the vet, the ear infection she had might have been what killed Axel as we didn’t have an autopsy done on him, we just buried him in our garden while in a mess of emotions.
Since then, Misty has been under a general anesthetic and had her molars ground down, and her infection treated as much as possible. We’ve currently got her on anti-biotics for her ear infection, and we have ear ointments we’re applying twice daily.
This is where the confusion comes in.
She’s perked up incredibly, and bounced back. She’s showing a personality side of her that we had never seen before and it’s amazing how cute and playful she’s becoming. However; we’re noticing her lips don’t sit right anymore and it appears she’s chewing on her cheek. We’ve had a look and cant see any ulcers or anything but her lip sits weird (see attached pictures).
We’ve also got her a new buddy, a female Mini Lop called Aella who is about 9 months old now. Bonding is a tediously long process but Misty doesn’t nip her much anymore but they still chase each other in circles.
Anyways,
Just wondering if anyone else has experienced the lip thing?
