  Chance bit into a thin willow stick that had been sitting there for ages and it crumbled into a white powder. What is it? And is it dangerous if he ate some?

  I’ve no idea what it is, but I’m assuming you’ve cleaned it out and gotten rid of it. It sounds a bit weird, willow generally lasts for ages (willow baskets etc). Willow is rarely if ever treated with pesticides, it’s a very sturdy plant. How is he doing now?

  It may happen if there was water on it? It tends to get softer if it has been in water for long periods of time.

  I really am not sure. I haven’t heard of that. I’d just remove it and replace with newer willow sticks. I doubt it’s harmful tho, maybe just super, super dry?
