We’ve had a rabbit for about a year now. She’s been a pretty health rabbit the whole time, but lately she’s been doing something very weird.
The apartment has a few rooms she’s allowed to hop around in, mainly one of the bedrooms and the main living area. She likes to hide under the bed, and until recently also liked her cage/litterbox we have set up in the living room.
We noticed she wasn’t eating almost a week ago…or so it seemed. She’d eat any food we’d give her, she just never went back to her cage where she had her food and water. We have successfully removed her from the bedroom (via pulling her along on a pillow, no shoving or scaring her), and then she’ll usually eat like crazy for a while, and then go back to the bedroom.
This is strange, and frankly doesn’t seem like healthy behavior. She does eat and drink when she’s near food and water, and seems very active and happy most of the time, but she still seems to avoid leaving the bedroom.
Does anyone have the faintest idea what might be going on? We’re completely baffled.
