Do you bunnies have any behaviour that is out of the ordinary, unique and just plain quirky?
Waffle: he will just sit in front of the floor to ceiling window that I have in my bedroom, and stare outside for the longest time. He once sat there for about an hour and a half, just looking out. It’s so funny to watch him so still, and I always wonder what he thinks about…
ha! Our bunnies stare for hours too, except they stare at… me. Sometimes it’s a little unsettling.
Also, they like to “gum” the fringe on our rug. They don’t eat it, they just put the strings in their mouths and sort of nom on them until they fall back out, and then they start up again.
Wooly has a flip-top cage. So sometimes I open the top to give him a treat. He’ll see me getting the treat bag and he will stand up on his hind legs, resting his front paws on the cage bars. He will reach up as far as he can and then he will start licking at the air long before I get the treat over there (like he’s licking his lips in anticipation). He looks like a little giraffe when he does it, so cute!
Lolli licks her lips in anticipation of treats. It’s so cute and funny. I can always tell when she’s thinking she needs a treat, cause she’ll lick her lips and then hop over to beg. lol She also does this weird head jerk thing. When I give her a treat, she’ll jerk her head back. I think it was because her dewlap got really big. Now that she’s lost a bit of weight, it’s smaller and she doesn’t do it as much. lol
Eddie would always lick all my furniture. Like he’d just randomly come up to my recliner and start licking it. I would say it was indirect grooming of me, but I hardly ever sat in it and he gave me kisses/grooming all the time. lol
Chomper likes to play “tag” with my 3 yr old daughter. He will chase her until he bumps his head into her leg and then stop and see if my daughter will chase him. REALLY REALLY funny to see, my neighbors love seeing this game of tag between my bunny and daughter. He also scratches at my daughter’s bedroom door like a cat or dog so that he could be let in. lol!! Zoe scratches the refrigerator door, she knows the yummy greens are kept in there, she also likes to “re-organize” her hay she will carry her hay from one end of the cage to the other when i put it in, really funny to see, once she has it in the opposite end of the cage she will push it with her front paws into a pile, this is EVERY time i put in fresh hay. They’re each really funny.
Lucy “sings” for everything. It’s clicker training that’s taken on a life of it’s own! She stands up when you say “Sing!”. Now it’s a snack indicator, pet indicator, pretty much when she wants something.
She also refuses to eat out of anything that isn’t a specific glass bowl. The bowl is a part of my dish set, so I figured I could try to get it back. Nope. She took to dumping her food on the floor. Somehow the glass bowl made its way back to her cage. I put a plastic bowl with food in it in her pen, and a few minutes later I hear her dumping her food. I look…straight into the glass bowl. Impeccable precision.
nikka looks like she’s dancing when she gets excited about parsley or craisins. I hold them up and she stands up and stretches so much she has to kind of stomp her feet [like she’s walking in place] to keep her balance lol. sometimes when she stands up and stares at something you can see her feet rocking back and forth.
recently I discovered rorschach has this weird game he likes to play. I bought them a bunch of those little wooden chew sticks, and I hand one to him, he grabs it from me, and then he sets it aside. he’ll do this for like 10 sticks in a row hahaha. he also likes when I chase him, which is weird since bunnies don’t usually like being chased… but he’ll hop away, I come up behind him and touch his back, and he binkies. lol.
random, but I think it’s funny how Nikka is so ladylike compared to rorschach. for example, when rorschach drinks his water it’s loud and you can hear the little ball moving each time he takes a sip. when Nikka drinks her water she’s like a ninja–completely silent.

OMG waffle and marble are like this too!! i swear that waffle drinks water just to play with the little ball. my boyfriends would say that the water comes out when he plays, so he has no choice but to drink it. but marble is like nikka. she’s silent. i have to see the bubbles going to the top of the bottle so i know that she’s actually drinking.
My rabbit has put her willow ball and toilet paper roll into her water dish. I think she thinks it is amusing to leave presents like that for mommy ![]()

This reminded me that Eddie liked for me to chase him. It was very short lived though. But I could tell when he wanted me to chase him because he’d come up to me and hop off, and kind hop in place until I’d come after after him. I don’t think my stupid human brain completely got the whole game cause after once or twice of him doing this, he’d quit. LOL
Nibbler hardly ever “meatloafs”. He always just FLOPS everywhere. He seems to mimick the behavior of our two dogs, I guess since he was so young when we got him he is just learning behavior from them? Because he doesn’t like to sleep on the floor or his cage or anything, he jumps up on the couch and just flops over. Or he’ll lay down and spread his legs out and back completely and lay his head on his front feet just like one of my dogs does.
He also likes to sleep under blankets. I was worried when we got him our dogs might antagonize him, no he antagonizes the dogs, haha.
OH AND THIS MORNING I had our bedroom door closed and I kept hearing noises that sounded like scratching so I opened my bedroom door and my two dogs and Nibbler were all scratching and begging to come into the bedroom to sleep with me. *rolls eyes* He seriously thinks he is a dog. Our younger dog, Luna, has taken a loving to him and basically is his mama they love each other, it’s awesome. =)
Mr. Bun-Bun loves to be chased like Angie mentioned above!! He starts it by nudging my ankle, then skittering away while doing modified binkies (head tossing, due to hardwood floors.) I chase him and he always ends up in the same spot, where he lets me “catch” him for some cheek rubs. It’s very very cute.
He also licks my hardwood furniture. Occasionally he gives a nibble but he knows he’s not supposed to eat it… especially my antique table and chairs, and my piano! So he sits there licking them instead. It’s too funny.
Monkey likes playign in my hair. Sometimes i will lay on the floor with my hair spread out (its loooong.. like down to my butt long) and she will hop on over and help spread it around more, push it into a pile, spread it out… its funny ![]()
monkeybun i wish i could do that with my bunnies. waffle would just eat my hair. he just did it, yesterday, when i was talking to my friend and i wasn’t looking at what he was doing. i suddenly heard this munching/grinding noise. i looked down and AHHHHHHHH MY HAIR!!!!!!! =(
So today, my Moose thumped. Now, this is a bunny that NEVER thumps unless he is in serious distress.
So I say down beside his pen and talked to him, and he thumped again. He looked at me, and thumped AGAIN. So I finally look around…
… one of his timmy pellets was out of his reach on my side of the bars of the pen.
Serious distress indeed.
Wabble thats funny AHHH my hair lol
I love your stories. Ruby and Cotton eat in totally different styles. When Ruby eats greens like parsley for example. She starts on the stalk as she works her way up the leafy part is getting closer to her mouth and is real big. She sits taller and points her nose up as she eats the leafy part. it is so funny
Now Cotton he keeps his head low bobs his head around looking for the perfect piece. As he eats his head stays low and his eyes look bigger. And he rolls his eyes to teh back of his head.
I got this on video. I will try to get a better video of Ruby eating tonite. It is hilarious.

That is very serious. How dare you not get him is pellet fast enough! LOL As it’s been said many times before, it is a good thing they are very cute! haha
All these stories are hilarious
LOL Sammy does the staring out the window thing, the coming over when I say ‘treat’ thing and he even attempts to groom my hair occasionally lol
He also does really like being ‘fake chased’. He’ll binky away every time I do it. We also have developed an alternative version of the game that combines the bunny 500s. I’ll be sitting in front of my couch on the floor and he’ll start to bunny 500 around it super fast. He’ll go around 5 or 6 times, and every time he passes in front of me I’ll say “I’m going to get you” and making a reaching motion with my hands, and he binkies like a crazy man
LOL and just keeps going around… over and over lol
Basil was fun he had alot of silly quirks he would thump at me all the time and he was flabbergasted when I would cup my hand and pop the tile floor that made the exact thump sound he did! So he would hum and then thump! lol It was funny! He also like the dance around on his tippie toes when reaching for a raisin
But his favorite thing to do was sneak on my bed and snuggle up next to my kitty after having a short nap he would dig the crap out of all my blankets in a big pile then push them off the bed! lol
Thistle and I are still getting to know each other so I dont know many of his quirks yet, he head bobs when he is eating a carrot, he jerks his head back a few times before he gets a chunk and eats it lol My fav lil quirk is he makes a really quiet grunt sometimes when he is eating a carrot (his all time fav treat) I giggle and call him my little oinker because he sounds like a pigglet… well kinda lol
