I finally found an experienced in rabbits vet in my area and I asked her about spaying my bunny. She informed me about it but some of the things she told me worried me so I need your advice.

First of all she said that the possibility of her dying after the surgery is 5% (even 10%) and I thought that this is a big number compared to what I have read…

Also she has a little experince in spaying (she told me that they haven’t sprayed a lot of bunnies… but not the exact number they had).

The good thing is that none of the healthy bunnies she has spayed died!!!!

She was possitive about spaying my bunny but she told me that I have to think the 5-10% possibility of her dying….

Would you trust a vet like her or not ?

5 to 10% risk of death? No way, those statistics are ludicrous!

5-10% is too high, but if it’s emergency spays when a bun has uterine cancer or pyometra etc, that could explain it. But I’d rather try to find a vet with more spaying experience.

The risks are of course much bigger when a bun has a grave illness going into surgery. I don’t know what death rate is considered normal in such cases.
