My family will be going to Disney World soon and I wanted to see what others opinions are with how I’m planning on having Gabby looked after.

I have several other animals and my mom and dad will be coming at least twice a day to feed, water and check on them all. We have a fenced in backyard but I don’t like my dogs sleeping outside. I feel better with them being inside with us. My plan is to have my parents come in the morning and let my dogs outside to run. Then in the meantime feed, water and check that all the animals are okay. I always have my guinea pig’s veggies washed and bagged up in the fridge to make it easier to feed them. I’ll do the same with Gabby’s veggies.

My mom really liked Gabby when she met her the other day and we had a rabbit when I was a child so I feel my mom will give her some personal attention while she is here. So Gabby will get some morning attention from my mom who will check her hay, food and water. She’ll be cleaning the litterbox when needed every other day.

My parents will then come back in the evening and if my dogs chose to stay out all day will let them back in for the night or if they stayed inside let them run and hopefully they will come back in for the night. At this time she can give Gabby her veggies and give her some more time loving on her.

I want to make sure Gabby doesn’t think she’s been abandoned and with my parents coming twice a day does this sound like a reasonable plan for her? My mom has an outside dog that sleeps in the house at night and has killed a neighbor’s cat when it got in their yard so I don’t feel safe with Gabby staying at their house. Please feel free to give me any comments or thoughts on this. I have a vet’s office I could board her at but I thought with my mom loving on her twice a day she may feel better being in her own home.

Ok, keep repeating to yourself – Gabby will be fine. Gabby will be fine. Gabby will be fine. It sounds like a great plan!

When I had my surgery, I ended up being gone longer than I anticipated. My mom went every day to take care of Lolli. And despite me being worried to death about her, guess what? She was FINE. LOL

Thanks, I have been worried about leaving all my babies behind. I am a major homebody and we rarely go out of town like this. My babies are my family and even though I’m excited about the trip I dread not seeing them for almost a week.

My parents and I do this for each other when we do go out of town. I take care of her babies and she takes care of mine. We live real close to each other. It’s always went well and I hope it does this time too.

I was so paranoid when I left Eddie for the first time. I had my friend come stay and take care of him. She ended up telling me to quit texting her cause I was texting every chance I got, asking if he was ok. I was on a harley trip and pretty much every time I stopped, I texted her. Soo….every 2 hours.

I wish I could tell you it gets easier to leave them after a few trips. But it doesn’t. LOL I get so worried every time.

It’s great that you and your parents do that for one another!

That’s great that you have somebody you trust with your animals that can look after them while you’re away! I agree that your plan is probably better than relocating Gabby to somewhere unfamiliar for a while.

Glad to see that you have good people watching over your bunny.
You may come home to rabbitude though lol.

My dad watched over Chacha for a few days while I was in Oregon. She was very rebellious

I was thinking I may get some pouting from Gabby when we get back home. I ordered her some things from the bb store last night as I thought I’d let my mom give her them spaced out while we’re gone to give her something new to play with and chew on. Since being here she’s really started to play with toys and have fun chewing on things.

It sounds like your parents will do a fantastic job taking care of her! It’s great that you have such responsible people available to watch your pets.

When I go out of town I usually have a pet sitter come over twice a day. She feeds them and hangs out with them for a little bit, and they’re totally fine. Sometimes Otto has been a little off when we get home (not eating as much as usual) but he always bounces back in a day.
