We are having a lot of trouble getting our bunny back into the cage after free roam time.  She runs away, we have trouble catching her.  I try to pick her up and she squirms away, scratches me terribly.  I’ve tried using her carrier but she hates that as well.  It doesn’t seem to matter how long she is out.  My hands have been cut, I may try using gloves.

We are starting to take her out less often now, since it takes so long to get her back, sometimes, we just don’t have the time.   Any advice?

Have you tried luring her in with a treat? Something like a small piece of apple or other fruit, or a favorite veggie? Or you could try luring her with a few pellets. Whatever treat you try should be a favorite fruit or veggie that she would only get after going into her cage. You could also try using an x-pen or other objects to block off her escape routes. Attaching an x-pen to her cage would give her more room and it might be easier to herd her into that space, then close the x-pen to keep her inside. Adequate out of cage time is very important.

Is the cage on the floor so that she can get in and out on her own? That is really important. If it is, you could try “herding” her with a blanket!
