Hello!
I’m brand new to Binky Bunny and pet rabbits.
I just adopted two very sweet siblings, they’re 10 weeks old and seem to be doing fine except for one thing.
I woke up one day and one of my rabbits had had some very dark, thick gloopy poops in her cage overnight. There were not many, one, maybe two movements. I took away their pellets (which are timothy and I had been feeding in unlimited amounts as per HRS recommendation). Her behavior didn’t seem changed though and she seemed to be eating a normal amount of hay and drinking water but not guzzling (though this bun is a bit of a glutton so does nothing in halves, including eating pellets). I came back from work at noon for lunch, no change in behavior, two more odd poops (which were like cement when hardened, as I learned trying to clean them up).
After two full days with no pellets and normal poops I gave the bunny pair a small amount of pellets to see what would happen. 4 hours later her poops are getting runny and her butt is dripping.
Again, she doesn’t seem to have any behavioral changes, she’s alert, active and doing binkies all over the place, but her butt drips when she gets pellets. Will my bunnies get enough nutrition if I feed them only hay and no pellets? They’re only 10 weeks old. Should I be freaking out and rush her to the vet, she doesn’t seem sick in any other way and it cleared up when the pellets were taken away.
Thanks for any advice!
