I just recently heard about probiotics for bunnies from this board, but I can’t get the search feature to work to learn more.
I’m interested in them because my bunny is suffering from cecal dysbiosis that’s been going on for some time. It doesn’t seem to be diet related. Since it started we’ve run the gamut between only hay to hay and lettuce and working in some baked Oxbow treats with no discernible difference. The other day we added in a banana at lunch because it was more like her old diet before she got the problem and we aren’t sure whether it made it worse or not. She did suddenly start doing the cecals during the day when she had been doing them at night and they might have been slightly more puddingy. Maybe. It was hard to tell. We stopped giving the banana to her just in case and she’s working back up to doing it at night again… weird.
I think it is coming from one or all of the following: e cuniculi, antibiotics, and stress. We’re trying to decide what to do for her next since diet has not fixed the problem and I would be very grateful if I could hear more of you guys’ stories about using probiotics.
I am concerned with hopefully correcting the cecal dysbiosis, and if we can’t do that, at least alleviating that nutrition problem that people talk about.
Thank you in advance for interest in my question.
