I have always been a pretty big proponent of probiotic, just as influenced by Wick’s vet, but after hearing the opinion of Oxbow’s vet, and also looking into myself, it actually seems like a lot of probiotics out there may not have actual probiotic properties for rabbits, but they help because they provide some additional “fuel” for them. http://www.medirabbit.com/EN/GI_diseases/Probiotics/probiotics.htm
There are days and times where I forgot to give Wick his probiotic twice a day, and things like that, but I never really saw a difference one way or the other.
But yes, naturally, the gut biome should build itself back up as the rabbit continues to eat hay and such, and if that does not happen, re-assessing of diet and medical conditions may be needed.
