probably just over reacting..but….

Hi all….I will start with an apology for starting yet another thread that may just be me being a bit of hypochondriac when it comes to Sprocket…

also…I really need to stop reading the threads here….it is not helping my madness…

So…Sprocket is almost 4 months now…best little guy ever…if you are near him chances are he is following you around and is under foot…lol such a happy bun…I am yet to see him stay still for more than 15mins..tops!

So Sprocket and I are waiting on our new house at the moment and in the meantime we are staying at my parents. Sprocket is upstairs while Sasha- german shepherd is downstairs so they get no interaction.

I have a few concerns that may be nothing at all…

Sasha has kennel cough. she was diagnosed with it 2 weeks ago I think and is on antibiotics…I freaked when I learned bunnies can too catch it. since then I have been watching Sprocket like a hawk…. today he sneezed over 3-5 times in a 5 hours timeline that I saw him. Is that something I should be concerned about? also some of them were not so much as a sneeze as a through nose sigh and happens when he relaxes and is accompanied by a larger breath. his nose is not wet unless he is running around and I think that’s just the breath vs room temperature. (maybe?) how worried should I be?

second concern…when he is on the bed he tilts his head to the right ever so slightly…a bit as if he was looking at me with one eye and down with the other off the bed. so it’s more of a head turn/tilt then a full tilt and I have to look closely to see it. i have only noticed this on the bed and i see that one foot maybe deeper sunk in than the other…i am worried it may be something but hoping it is nothing?

he scratches his ear but not more than before and when he was checked by the vet for the same concern a month ago. i checked and cant see anything in it and he didn’t pull away until i sort of stuck a finger in just to check if it was greasy etc…then we was like who what the….mom!?

he is eating, drinking, binkiing, not letting me sleep and really the same as before. so no concern there. he even stopped humping me.

he is going to the vet on Wednesday the 16th for his neuter (after reading that one thread i am FREAKING OUT!!!!). so i will address these concerns with them then i just want to hear what you guys think? experiences etc? i am still learning his little quirks so hard for me to judge the normal vs not normal yet especially when he does something new and fancy…

Chances are he has already been exposed to Bordetella. Many rabbits have it in their nasal passages. It typically does not cause symptoms. However, I have read that it’s presence can make a rabbit more susceptible to other types of bacterial infections (which do cause symptoms). Since they are in completely different parts of the house, my guess is that your dog’s kennel cough is not making it far enough to potentially infect Sprocket. Bordetella is spread by direct contact and via air.

For the possible head tilt, I don’t know. I mean, my rabbits will sometimes tilt their heads to look at me. But if it was head tilt, then that would be more concerning to me. And I only say that because I’m looking at your description and wondering if perhaps what is wrong is completely unrelated.

Those are just my thoughts. Hopefully the vet has some good news for yo!

I do too don’t think it has anything to do with the kennel cough….it’s just me thinking as I look at him you know and he does stuff an I analyze…maybe over analyze…I read the threads here then look at him and then I’m like…what if…so it may be nothing with the head tilt…hoping very much so actually….my photos of him don’t really have it showing either…and I only notice it on the bed when he is there. on the floor I haven’t noticed it.

In terms of him tilting his head to look at you, I don’t think that’s anything to worry about. I sometimes notice Peanut with a tilt but then I realise he is slouching a bit so it’s not actual ‘head tilt’ so to speak. I got really concerned about it at one point til I noticed the slouching lol. I think I even made a thread about it and if I recall, head tilt would usually be a continuous thing so you’d notice his head tilted at all times. Correct me if I’m wrong tho guys?

Yeah that’s what I’m thinking. I’ve looked through all the pics of him and haven’t seen a tilt. I also only see it on the bed which is obviously uneven. I will keep an eye on it. And I need to stop reading the threads….i just feel bad asking and not contributing lol.

Henry likes laying in a loaf with his head on a tilt… doesn’t do it anywhere else….
It makes him look at me with a question mark…. like “you cleaning up my poop again….?!”

Considering the squishiess of the bed, I would guess he is just turning his head to look at you. It looks like his whole body is tilted in the one picture, presumable from the soft surface he’s standing on.

From looking at that picture, it’s pretty obvious to me that Sprocket’s completely tilted when he stands on that squishy surface, which is making him lean over to the right. So if you turn your head to look at him straight-on, I think I can detect fairly clearly that he’s turning his head and tilting it naturally as he follows your movements.

Look at him! What a cutie pie.

I worried about every hop, funny look or bad mood when I first got baby buns. But as long as they were in one piece and eating properly it was just hypochondria!
