My 8 month old bunny is getting spayed on December 1. I was going to board her over Christmas starting the 22, but I’m worried about doing that in case she has complications…and honestly because I don’t want to leave her alone in a strange place so soon after her surgery. What do you more experienced bunny parents think? Will she be okay by then, or should I plan to bring her along (1 hour drive)?

She should be healed and eating/pooping normally by the 22nd, so I guess it would depend on 1) whether she has ever been boarded before and 2) how well she does with car rides.

It can take about a month or two for a female bun to recover fully after a spay, but of course the first week or two are usually the worst. Its a hard surgery for them to go through. I personally would not leave my rabbit until after she is fully healed from the spay. I would really worry about boarding her as that can cause a lot of stress, and stress alone can cause sickness; adding stress to a recovering bunny can easily add complications or make existing complications worse. Car rides and staying in a new place is scary, be it boarding or going with you for a vacation.
