I went for my first post op visit today.  My surgeon was really disappointed that my symptoms have increased rather than decreased with the surgery.  My spine is aligned so at this point, he’s not sure what is going on.  Nothing major is showing on my xray or MRI.  He definitely freed up space in the spinal sack so nothing is being pinched/pressed as far as we can tell.  I still have another 3 weeks of healing and he is hoping that as my muscles continue to heal, perhaps my symptoms down my legs will lessen and/or go away.  He is pretty stumped right now.  He’s not giving up or anything.  Just stumped cause imaging shows nothing major.

And this brings me to my major depressor of the day:  I have decided that I will not be able to get another bunny for the foreseeable future.  I’ve been waiting since basically shortly after Eddie passed and I thought once I had my surgery, I’d be able to get me and Lolli another bunny friend.  I am severely depressed and devastated over this.  I know Lolli misses having a bunny friend.  I miss having two snugglebuns.   So this has been a blow to me.

Here’s my experience from being a chronic chiropractor patient: Often times after an adjustment, things actually hurt more for a day or two. I believe it’s because the muscles are so used to being one way trying to accommodate whatever was wrong that once things have been moved into their proper place, the muscles are still acting as though they’re working around the misalignment and it takes them a while to figure out what they’re supposed to be doing.

I know this wasn’t a simple adjustment and it’s been more than a few days, but I wonder if the same kind of thing isn’t happening.

I am also a stomach sleeper which is putting a lot of stress on my lower back too. But I’m like a hard core stomach sleeper. lol I can’t fall asleep unless I’m on my stomach. I will be trying to change this but it’s going to be hard. lol

I do understand what you are saying. I’ve been dealing with this for so long that I’m just not in a good place right now about it all.

Are you supposed to sleep on your side? That’s what my chiro told me to do. I found the easiest way to do that is with two good-sized stuffed animals. I keep one in front and one at my back and that more or less keeps me from rolling over, lol.

My mom just bought me a body pillow today so that when I roll over on my stomach, I won’t be completely on my stomach. If that makes sense. When I sleep on my stomach, I usually pull a leg up. I also sleep with a stuffed animal, so the body pillow will basically replace my bear and I’ll be propped up more on the pillow for support. Well, we’ll see how it works. LOL

I was a stomache sleeper too.    Had to learn to sleep on my side.    I put a pillow between my knees   Gives my back extra support and I have a body pillow I hug as well.     It takes time

Also what annette said makes a lot of sense too.   The muscles are having to rework their place in all this.    Plus swelling may be an issue as well.

Is it ok for you to put cold packs on your back?   That can help.   I cannot use heat makes mine worse.

Plus the nerves may still be inflammed from having that disc pressure on them from b4 your surgery.    You would be surprised how much pain sleeping on your stomache may be causing  you as well.    I cannot even lie on my stomache on the floor or bed or anywhere at all.  That pain comes right back.
