My roommate’s mom’s friend’s daughter (this sounds bad already, doesn’t it?) is looking to get rid of a rabbit and I said I’d take him. If he turns out to be way over my head, I’ll probably have to dump him in a shelter, which is kinda why I offered. Evidently the owner’s friends are pushing her to just let the rabbit go outside!

I don’t know how big he is or what breed or if he’s fixed even! I don’t even have a good idea as to why she wants rid of the poor guy. I sure hope it works out okay, though. Eek! the last thing I wanna do is casue any undue stress to the poor little bugger. I think I’ll move Tank into the living room for a while so the newbie (don’t even know his name yet!) can settle in my room, one of the more peaceful locations. Here’s hoping!

Even if you have to rehome the poor bun that’s better than being let go in the wild. Thank you for caring and wanting to help this rabbit.

Yeah that’s what I was thinking. Can you believe anyone would think that? Domestic rabbits are obviously a lot different than wild ones x(

I am a little nervous. I hope I don’t end up with an animal who’s been abused.

Buns htat have been abused aren’t all bad, they just take some socializing and some gentle love for them to open up to you

Is that so? I just worry I wouldn’t be any good at it. x( I am not a very experienced rabbit owner I don’t think!

Gabby had spent this last winter living alone in a tiny store bought cage without any type bedding or shavings  in the people’s garage. I don’t know if it was even heated as they were getting rid of her this last March because it would be too hot for her in the garage this summer. Typical child got tired of rabbit, rabbit out of sight out of mind then given away. When I brought her home she was really curious for me to sit with her and would allow me to pet her forehead and just hang out with her. I think she had just been lonely for so long and wanted some type of interaction and affection.

She was my first rabbit as an adult and I think we did pretty good getting to know her and vice versa. She’s really comfortable here now and is free range in half the house now.

Experience doesn’t matter- it’s education and love that matter! You’ll do better by this rabbit, whether it’s by keeping him/her to yourself, or surrendering to a shelter.

                      I got him today!

His cage (as well as the room the woman kept him in…) was nasty dirty. They said I could take the hutch but I think I’ll decline just because he’s been pooping and peeing on the wood surface for I’d guess a year now, and I just can’t imagine how I’d ever get that smell out. The enclosure was a really good size for a rabbit his size but not for him to live in 24/7, and he must have been. Also his nails are too long.

He’s an all-black lionhead rabbit. Cute little boy! Very curious. I think he was well-taken care of at one time, discounting his diet, which was nothing but pellets and water.

                      Vet appointment pending!

I would ask for the hutch, just to take away the temptation for them to fill it up with another bunny or sell it, and dismantle it at home and throw it out.

If I had a place to put it to dismantle it that wouldn’t be a bad idea, but I don’t think the apartment would appreciate me trying to clean that awful thing in here x(
