Today I discovered that my dutch Rabbit might have a mite infestation, but I dunno.
7 days ago he went out side to play and unfortunately got into some old carpet.
5 days ago he started shedding a lot (I though he was just shedding) this was followed by a lot of scratching.
Looking at his skin today he has crusty skin patches with a lot of flakes “dandruff” looking like flakes. The areas are around his ears, behind, tummy, and many on his neck/close to chin area.
Does this sound like Mites? I have never seen his skin look like this.
He has been eating, poops fine, and is himself. Hes just more irritated, but I thought it was because of the dust from the carpet.
I have put some vitamin E oil on the areas to lesson his itching and have booked an appointment for tomorrow morning with his DOC.
In the past the vet just injected my previous bunny with Ivermectin when I thought he had mites.
I have cleaned out the potty and have cleaned out the blankets just in case it is that, but at this time I don’t know what the issue is. It might be something different altogether.
Could it be irritation in his skin by being in the dusty carpet?
I have another bunny with him should I have her vaccinated too if that is what he has? Are mites contagious? The other bunny does not look or feel effected, but I don’t know.
Thanks guys for you help and support. It sucks when you find out that your bunny is not feeling well.
