poppin in for a quick hello

i’ve missed popping in for a bit… been sick

i have these cysts under my arms that have been there for years.  I had my doc check them out and was even referred to a specialist to confirm that the lumps were indeed cysts.  here in ontario they wouldn’t remove them under our health care plan because they weren’t posing a health risk and therefore the surgery would be considered cosmetic.

so last wed one of the cysts became infected and started swelling.  this has happened before and has either gone away without incident or i expressed it (gross i know) successfully.  by friday leaving work i felt really awful.  achey all over, fever, chills, nausea, headache, no appetite (yikes).  so i forced some food down and went to bed.  slept 12 hours and felt worse.  by sat evening i called mom and asked her to take me into emerg.  the doc said my cyst infection had spread and he would have to lance it and give me antibiotics.  ever got a needle into an infection?  not fun. 

so off i go 6 hours later with a patched up armpit and some meds.  stupid me… antibiotics were supposed to be 3 pills 3 x daily and for the first 2 days i took 1 pill 3 x daily.  needless to say i am still in pain.  and running out of pain meds.  on top of it all they didn’t close up the wound but instead packed it with gauze which needs to be changed daily.  so after work all week i have to goto a clinic and get them to rip the gauze out of my wound, rinse it out, and then stuff new gauze back in.  also… not fun.  boo.

pinky is not a happy camper as she has lost her cuddle buddy.  its too hard to either lay on the floor and get back up, or pick her up without moving my right arm too much.  anyways… hopefully my meds will kick in soon and things can get back to normal.  hope all is well with all of you!  off i go to look for threads with pics

Lots of wellness (((((((Vibes)))))) coming your way BBM. What an ordeal! Don’t sound all that cosmetic to me – grrr! Well, I hope you don’t continue with any pain and those cute bunny faces have the usual therapeutic effect on the spirits.

owwwwwwwwwwwwwwww I’m so sorry you’re going through that, GEEZ! Cosmetic surgery my patoot! Nothing that hurts that much is cosmetic…! Poor babybunsmum… I hope you feel better soon and keep us updated on how you’re doing!

It’s no longer cosmetic, so if he didn’t take them all off, now’s the time to get it done. After all, it caused you to become ill. Ask Pinky to snuggle your feet while you dangle off the couch. Bogart will show her how. (Or sit on Bogie’s back so you can reach her for pets.)

Thats terrible.  I agree if it is causing pain  fever etc.  it is not cosmetic.   Grrrr.

Hey it took me 2 years to find a Dr. that would take my ins. to do my knee surgery.  

Hopefully canada will figure out your issue is not cosmetic.

i’m booking an app with my fam doc. i want her to know about my trip to emerg and then i’ll plead my case for having them all removed. there were a few under each arm and i’m sorta curious how many were evicted with this episode. i’m feeling way better… until i have to take my 3x daily antibiotics that is. bleh. they’re doing the job BUT the side effects are nausea, strong metallic taste in mouth, severe heartburn and diarrhea. fun. on the upside i’m only taking the hardcore pain meds before my dressing change and the rest of the time advil will suffice.
