Hey all, my bunny took a rice-grain sized bite of a tulip petal. Tulips are on the list of toxic plants. He’s 3lbs. He enjoys shredding paper and things but he has never actually eaten it, he leaves little bits all over the carpet so I’m not even sure if he ate the small piece of tulip but I’m still worried. He seems to be eating fine (but this was only 30 minutes ago). I’m wondering how toxic these bulb plants are for rabbits? Do they poison the blood or do they cause intestinal/digestive issues? Should I be taking him to the vet immediately because of this small amount? If I’m going to wait to see how he is for the next couple hours what symptoms should I be looking for and what should send me packing for the emergency vet (of course he decides to eat something like that at 8pm)?

Just to ease everyone’s mind the tulips are going in the trash now -_-

Any advice or personal experiences would be helpful. Thank you

I don’t think they are poisonous I have heard rabbits can have flowers

Well I read they can have certain flowers like roses but tulips was definitely on the no-no list

Tulips and lillies are definitely toxic, however a rice grain sized bite hoepfully won’t cause any damage… Keep his hay topped up and lots of fresh water handy….. It wouldn’t hurt just to give your vet a call they will be able to tell you what to watch for and then you can also have them on the alert if it is necessary to go in.

Sherlock buns seems perfectly fine. He’s eating and pooping and running around so I think I’m in the clear! I’ll definitely update if anything goes wrong for future reference!
