I’ll keep it short, as I just really want urgent help.

I’ve taken him to the vets already, and he’s had a few injections, as well as fluid under the skin.

At home now, and he’s not eating the treatment food they told me to buy for him. He won’t drink. He’s just laying there, and I’m so desperate to do something to help! What can be done?

I was just told the outcome will likely not go in my favour

Did you see a rabbit savvy vet? How old is he? Did they do blood test and a X-ray? Are you force feeding? Did they give any pain meds?

Keep him warm. Put him on your belly and warm him with your body warmth, have a fleece blanket or similar around him. If he’s had fluids at the vets he doesn’t need to drink for quite some time.

It’s very difficult with a bun this poorly. You are doing what you can. Keep offering the recovery food. If any treat is of interest to him he can have that, because whatever he eats now is good.

Thank you for the replies. Unfortunately, he passed away at around 3pm today

I’m so sorry. You can post in rainbow bridge about him.

Louise, I’m so very sorry to hear this. True diarrhea in a rabbit is very often fatal. They can get it from over-growth of bad bacteria in their guts (enterotoxemia). It mostly happns to very young rabbits, but can occur in adults as well.

                  Binky Free, ****Louise’s bun****
