Okay so it’s 2am and I can not sleep for anything. Today my rabbit passed away and I am devistated. My story is somewhat interesting though and I am hoping someone eduacucated on rabbits can help me possibly understand what happened to my bunny named lucky.
First of all, about a week and a half ago I found this bunny under my car, she would NOT leave my front yard for almost 3 days. I knew she was sick because of her terrible sounding lungs and she was awfully skinny. I finally took her in because I couldn’t go to bed at night knowing she was out there, anyways I took her in and I knew I had to taker her to he vet because she sounded terrible. After doing research online I was convinced she had a respiratory infection or something of that sort. I took her to the vet last Friday and the prescribed her 0.5 of baytril every 12 hours. I took this baby in caring for her like one of my children. I ??????????? started her antibiotics and was never a minute late when giving them to her. She’s a very calm rabbit and after a few days she was noticibly looking better ( her coat looked nice, she didn’t smell as bad, she was eating normal rabbit food not just neighborhood plants ). I kept her indoors just to make absolute sure she was not affected by the weather since she has that terrible sniffle sound. She didn’t have that wet of a nose but the vet was not very clear with me on a diagnosis. Anyways today,Friday, exactly a week after her vet visit, she passed and I’m so confused. She was active and doing so much better. She was grooming herself and eating fruits and veggies,hay, grass, and pellets. She was peeing and pooping regularly. Her urine was very cloudy which I told the vet about but she didn’t seem to care too much. Do you think I just didn’t find her in time and her infection was too far? Pneumonia? I gave her her medicine at 9:30pm and discovered her limp body at 10:45. I don’t know but I can’t sleep. I’m just glad I found her and was able to give her a full belly of yummy food and provide a safe and warm place for herald lots of love during her last days.
