My boyfriend have two rabbits which are four year old. But he has no idea what breed they are. I am curious and interest to find out more about their breeds and hopefully this help me to understand them better. Please help me to identify their breeds.

They are brother and sister (one male and one female rabbit).

I couldn’t get them on the scale or carry them to measure weight. Comparing to the size & weight of our cats… We guesstimate around 1.5kg to 2kg.

They both look exactly like my Rain but with bigger ears! Rain is a Polish and Dwarf mix though, and these two are large. Their ears are pretty long too so I’d think it’s a large breed. They remind me a little bit of an american rabbit https://livestockconservancy.org/images/uploads/abstracts/ameircan.jpg if you see this pic. I think they might be a mix too, I’m not so sure.

The male rabbit does look a bit like dwarf but definitely not pure dwarf. The female rabbit does look more like the American breed (appearance wise). I did look up on wikipedia… An American breed is typically 4.1-5.4kg which is probably twice their size or more.

@Rain – Thanks for the info. Mind sharing your rabbit photo? Curious and love to see her…

                              Gorgeous!
They look like silver martens (colour- blue) but probably a bit small to be that breed. The marten pattern also can appear in other breeds.
They might be a mix of something like the American and mini rex – random example!

btw, your kitty’s face in that cupcake picture is priceless!!

Thanks everyone for your replies! I’m the aforementioned boyfriend and adopter of these bunnies. Just a bit more background – these were “accidents” because a friend of a friend had let her two rabbits occupy the same cage for a day by mistake and out popped four little babies. I took two and my friend took the other two.

Unfortunately no one knew the breeds of the mom and dad bunnies (they could be mixed themselves I think), so thus a mystery is borne. @Manman88 and I had searched online for pictures of rabbit breeds and all, but couldn’t quite identify them so far. She found this forum and thought to give it a try.

And yes, we have two rabbits and also two cats. Our place is just full of fur flying about all the time. Haha…

The body, head and ear shape all suggest Havana to me. But they don’t appear to have the mink-like fur associated with the breed. Maybe Havana mix?

Dear all, thank you all so much for helping out. My boyfriend and I had come to a conclusion that they are definitely a Silver Marten and probably mix with another breed (perhaps Rex/ Havana/ Dwarf). Now knowing their breed. We also learnt that they are notorious chewer too which is truly the case.

That’s one of my favourite pictures! She loves to sit next to me while I’m having my meals. Waiting for a chance if I will give her some of mine. She will go crazy whenever I’m having a dairy product like Ice-cream and Yogurt.

So adorable! I think it’s safe to say that bunnies will eat everything lol. They are just naturally curious and love experimenting. Make sure they never get to the ice cream, yoghurt or chocolates though!

We were talking about our cat that loves the dairy products. Not the rabbits. No worries… we are not harming any rabbit.

I would think they are part angora.. I’m not sure of the other breed(s) though.
