My rabbits (16 weeks old) recently had (have) patches of fur missing, Clover, recently had a tiny patch of fur missing from her mouth, it cleared up within about 2 weeks! But only JUST recently i’ve noticed Stormi has a patch of fur missing under her ear, I am very concerned as to what this is? They do go outside, and they have at least 3-4 hours in their run on weekdays and sometimes all day on weekends (if we’re at home) I will try to attach a picture of Stormi’s bald patch (if it will let me!) as i’m more concerned about that as Clover’s was not at all this bad – if you could help, i would be ever so greatful!

If it doesn’t work, PM me or another forum leader and we’ll help. I think we need to se pictures to understand what this is about.

It’s good to hear Clover’s fur filled back in, but yes, it is concerning that Stormi is showing this. It could be a separate issue, but getting more information (and pictures if possible) would be useful to know. Some rabbits shed in patches, so it can be alarming to see, but on the other hand topical infections can cause fur loss as well. Another variable is rabbits themselves, whether it is the rabbit pulling its fur out in frustration or another rabbit is pulling its fur out. I mention this specifically because Clover is young, so unless Clover and Stormi have both been spayed/neutered and went through a proper bonding process, they should not be kept together because, due to hormones, they may fight each other (which can include pulling out fur) or mate (based on their sex of course).

In the area where the fur is missing, how would you describe the skin? Is it smooth, dry, flaky, crusty…. etc.? Does the patch of fur loss grow over time, or does it stay the same size, from your observations?
