Chibi had gotten spayed on Wednesday the 31st of January at Seattle Animal Shelter’s Spay and Neuter Clinic. They had given her 3 days worth of pain meds. She’s recovering well. She was very lethargic the first night, but the next morning she was hopping all over her cage, biting the cage bars telling me to let her out. She won’t stay still but she needs to rest! I know bunnies are very good at hiding their discomfort, so I didn’t give in on letting her out. She has been resting in her cage for about 3 days now. We’re putting her in her old cage for now, and it’s smaller than I’d like it to be. I don’t feel comfortable leaving her in there for days at a time but if it’s for her well being I will. When’s the soonest she can come out to play? I’ll be sure to minimize her hopping on things, I just want her to have some time out of her cage and to have some exercise. Is it too soon for 2 hour play times? Thank you!

Also – When can she go back to her regular routine? Her routine was12 hours in her cage and 12 hours out in her playpen. When can she started hopping on things again? Thanks

That’s great that you didn’t give in and made her rest . I know it’s hard – Luna wanted to come out of her cage on day one! Luna recovered fast so I let her out of her cage after the 3rd day, but I barricaded parts of the room so as to still restrict her space. I didn’t let her have free range until 2 weeks later. As long as you can create a space where she can’t jump onto anything or zoom (normal hopping around is fine), I think it would be fine to let her out for supervised play time. However, I wouldn’t let her jump on things again for 2-3 weeks.
