  I arrived home from an overnight trip this morning to find that Igloo had somehow managed to chew a 4″x3″ hole through two plastic bags and into his litter, through the bars of his pen. Suffice to say there was litter EVERYWHERE, but Igloo seemed alright – just happy to see me. I didn’t give much thought to where exactly the plastic went, until I cleaned up the litter and realized there wasn’t much plastic in it. So naturally, I’m assuming he swallowed a good amount of it.
  
  Since I was gone for about 18 hours, I have no idea how long he worked on this little stunt, or what his bathroom habits were afterwards. I did notice he had very small poops, but I also noticed that he had eaten a lot of hay and drank a lot of water. He’s not acting off at all – he’s alert, energetic, playful and continues to eat and drink well. I haven’t seen any fecals yet, but I have seen two big cecals. I went ahead and gave him his greens for the day, and he wolfed them down pretty quickly.
  
  I am a little worried about the fact that he may have eaten a good portion of a 4″x3″ sheet of plastic… But it doesn’t seem to be affecting him. At least, not yet. I moved everything away from the side of his pen, so plastic is totally out of reach now. Do you guys have any advice on what to watch for?

  What to watch for is the same as always when a bunny has ingested sth it shoudn’t have: refusal to eat even a favorite treat, decrease in size and amount of fecals, signs of discomfort like sitting all hunched up, pressing tummy against floor, reluctancy to move about, or even worse, lethargy.
  
  Hay and water are the best remedies for this type of thing. That he’s eating is great. Keep an eye on him for the next few days.
  
  Bunnies have a tendency to eat stuff they are not supposed to. They most often come out of it just fine, but you should always monitor them for a while after.

  These things usually just pass right through. The chance of blockage is relatively small, so you can just watch and wait.
  
  As long as Igloo is eating and pooping normally from now on it’s all good. Give him a new litter so that it’s easy to see if there are any new poops.
