We got our bunnies through a breeder (mistake, I know), and they’ve been sneezing since day 2. We took them to the vet. He diagnosed them with snuffles and prescribed an antibiotic, Sulfamethoxazole, twice a day for 14 days. They were still sneezing, so we went back and he prescribed another antibiotic, Enrofloxacin, twice a day for 10 days. They just finished up that, and they’re still sneezing. Should I take them back to the vet and ask him to do a culture and sensitivity test, hoping that antibiotic #3 works?

It is not only distressing being unable to help my sniffling buns; it’s also a financial stress. The vet visits (2 visits and 2 meds x 2 buns) total $305. We paid $200 for VPI pet insurance for both of the bunnies, but they said they won’t cover a dime because it’s a pre-existing condition. I’m hoping against hope that we can cure thim with just one more $150 vet appointment. I recognized that bunnies can be expensive, but I had no idea we’d be shelling out $650 in the first month for vet visits alone.

Yes, at this point you should do a culture and sensitivity test to see what it is exactly you are dealing with.
