After my Petunia is spayed I’m thinking of getting her a friend. My pen currently is 4×4 would that be big enough for two bunnies or should I get an extension to make is 4×6? I don’t have anymore room so the max is 4×6. Is that adequate for two young buns? Of course lots of outside time as well but there will be times when they have to be in there most of the day.

If you have the room, I would say the more room, the better! A lot of factors go into whether a pen is the “right size” for ## of rabbits. There are guidelines, but superseding all is “the bigger, the better”.

Something to keep in mind is, even if the area is adequate, consider how much space is free for the rabbits to get out their energy, run around freely, etc.. Sometimes, pens look large when empty, but end up being very cramped after putting in litter boxes, tunnels, toys, structures, etc. You want a balance of free-roam space in the pen as well as engagement items.
