Hi! I have been struggling with .. HAY! So I started with OxBow hay. Onyx loved it.. but would pull it out into his litterbox and then pee on whatever he didn’t eat, never to be eaten again. OxBow is too expensive for them to be peeing on it, which now Tex picked up. SSO, I got a cheaper hay which was cut so finely, it just fell out of their hay box into their litterbox and guess what, it too became the perfect thing to pee on. SO, I ordered timothy hay from my local farmer at a serious steal! It was only 4$ for a entire bail! Well.. they decided they didn’t like it and Onyx ended up in the emergency room with gut stasis (thought I think it wasn’t actually the hay that caused it, the vet thinks it was a UTI !? )  SO then I tried mixing the two together.. and that also became something to pull out of their hay trough and pee on.. SSO, I have now purchased yet another kind of timothy hay from amazon which arrived yesterday and it is very coarse and long.. so obviously they don’t like that either. Has anyone had success with any affordable hay that your buns love!? Thanks!!!

What about putting hay in a hay rack or metal ball right above the litter box. I use a ball and much less waste. Still some gets wasted but a lot less. I use Oxbow too so I know how pricey it is!
