        Yup, this year’s problem after all might not be the bump on the ear.

        I’ve noticed that K’s leaving around a few droplets of pee not only when he’s coming out off the litter box, but also just outside the cage (he sometimes jumps directly out) and a couple of times when he’s waking up. Last night he was laying half asleep, I was bothering his feet and got my hand wet with exactly 4 drops.

        More general info:

        – rat is 3 years 3/4, little over 2kgs;

        – he recently found a kind of hay he likes, so he’s been eating more of that and drinking more (I refill about ~250ml every 3 days);

        – I check his family jewels very often (not neutered, so I’m palpating his testies) and he has no urine burns or reddenings;

        – the pee is of a normal yellow with healthy amounts of calcium residuals; He hasn’t had a sludge episode for years;

        – it started happening a couple of months after his dietary change. Otherwise he’s fed his usual teeth consuming/GI friendly diet (fennel, celery, salad, Bunny’s bunny traum, Vitakraft Life Dream pellets as treats, fruit 2 times a month);

        My thoughts are that either he’s just lazy/hasty and behaves like a human male with poor hygiene habits or he might be having an UTI or an internal tissue problem? Kidney problem? Psycho owner?

        Opinions on the matter? On tuesday we got the vet appointment. (pic for attention lol)

          Can you post the ingredients in the Vitakraft Pellets please? My own experiences with the brand haven’t been too good. Vitakraft is one of the brands that has a lot of junk (those little colorful cookie things) in their food, and isn’t very healthy for rabbits. I’m not too sure what Bunny’s bunny traum is, so fill me in on that too. Does he eat the celery stalks, or the leaves, or both? Fennel is great.
          I don’t know if it is related to him not being neutered, as they usually pee in complete puddles. It could possibly be a bladder infection. It’s good that you got a vet appointment soon.

            I remember Ellie saying recently that Brientje had taken to leaving a few drops of pee on the sofa, and decided it was laziness, so it could be similar! If you have a vet appointment on Tuesday though, I guess it’s best to rule out UTIs etc since it’s a new thing

              Oh yeah! I remember that too! He could be so so relaaaaxed when he’s chillin that literally all of his muscles relax along with him, like his bladder.

                @Rain, he eats half a celery stick a day, if it has leaves the better

                Bunny Traum (english commercial name is Bunny Dream) are pellets made of 100% hay and are excellent for buns that don’t eat their hay, they literally saved him when he had teeth problems. I agree, Vitakraft isn’t the best of brands, but he loves that mix, which is without grains or added sugars. Those are treats he gets before going to bed at night. Not 100% healthy, but vet approved saying he needs some junk in his life, since his diet is very very strict.

                I didn’t remember about Brentje! Well, I sure hope it’s lazyness! I suspect he’s sometimes not cleaning himself after hopping out of the litterbox. He is lazy, a couple of times in the past he straight peed himself upon sitting up & stretching after prolongued periods of loafing =_=

                Still, I hope it’s not an UTI and it’s just him being lazier than usual.

                        His Lord of Darkness is so cute . For some reason I always forget how small he is and think of him as being bigger.

                          He forgets himself In his heart he’s a huge alpha bun. He’s not afraid to attack animals bigger than him lol. He attacks cats if he sees them, for example. Last night it started snowing and probably he heard some weird noises, so he summoned me (thumping so loud I thought we had thieves trying to break in…) just to patrol the whole floor and then go back to his mansion.

                          I kinda forget too until he’s up in my lap and he’s sooo small.
