Ok, so my bunny is 5 months old… will be neutered in august… he was using liter box great until his teenage years started… he kept peeing right next to liter box which happens to be right next to gate of pen. It started with just pee when he went in for the night. So I started putting pee pad down under liter box and next to it. And now he just completely goes on the pee pad. I think he now associates the pee pad with bathroom. So should i wait to take pee pad off until after neutering or take pee pad out now? I was cleaning his pen every other day and washing reusable pads every other day. So the pee pads allowed me to clean his pen once a week but change pee pad several times a day. I just think it’s a losing battle right now until after neutering but i don’t want him to associate the pad with bathroom making it harder to use the litter box after neutering. Please help!

How big is his litter box? sometimes when a box is too small they will pee next to it.

I would probably just keep it so it’s easy for you until he’s neutered, then you can focus on retraining him. I agree it could just be a losing battle right now.

I just got a new Bunny, basically hes a rescue. I have no idea how old he is and I did not know that you were supposed to get them nudered. He is litterbox trained. My guess from the information I’ve gathered hes  Around 9 months. Are things gonna get bad if I don’t get him neutered, do you have to get all bunnies neutered. I’m very new to this Bunny thing I didn’t realize it was gonna be so costly. I am willing and able to neuter him, but I would prefer not to.  But I definitely don’t want a spraying Bunny do they all spray. I had no idea they were so much like cats in this area.

              Hi AnnMarie003!

Not all rabbits spray. If your bun is going in his box, it’s fine not to have him neutered. Male rabbits can get testicular cancer, but it’s not very common and tends to occur in very old males.

Your bun could however start spraying (and poop marking) at any time, even after some years, and if he does, there’s pretty much nothing you can do except get him neutered. You should call around to different vets and ask their price, prices can vary a lot. If there is a shelter/rescue in your area, you could call them and ask which vet they use.

If you’re planning on getting another rabbit, your rabbit will have to be neutered. Intact rabbits fight and if you have intact male + female, they will multiply.
