This is a beautiful forum, and I always like being in the company of rabbit lovers, whether down here on earth or in cyberspace! I’m involved in campaigning for the protection of wild rabbits and hares in Ireland, a great cause I believe because these creatures are so non-threatening and certainly don’t deserve what some misguided humans do to them.
The main focus of campaigners’ efforts is in pressing our government to ban hare coursing, a “sport” in which both hares and rabbits are used in a most cruel fashion. The hares forced to run from greyhounds in racing competions called coursing events..and the rabbits are used to train the greyhounds. The greyhounds themselves are not to blame of course…it’s the people who arrange these “sporting events who are responsible.
Another campaigner, John Fitzgerald, recently wrote a book about our campaign to save these beautiful creatures, and the way that campaign has impacted on our lives. Bad Hare Days is the memoir of a REAL bunny lover who’s proud to called one! He describes all the adventures and experiences (happy and otherwise) associated with our Ban Coursing campaign and I believe the book will inspire all friends of the hare and the rabbit worldwide.
Hoppy days to everyone.
