I’m exploring options for arthritis pain management. My vet has suggested a few things and I’m wondering if anyone here has had any experience with any of these and has any advice/opinions to share.

        1) Metacam: We were using metacam for years. However, we had to stop due to it causing lack of appetite.

        2) Gabapentin: We’re currently using gabapentin. It seems to help with pain but he seems so out of it. He’s running in to walls left and right and falling asleep in the middle of eating his meals. (I know this may also be due to old age, but since I can’t do anything about that I’m going to assume it’s the gabapentin)

        3) Regenifree: My vet suggested something called Regenifree (sp?). It’s a natural supplement with tumeric and curcumin.

        4) Adeqan: Some sort of shot I guess. She said he’d need to come in for a shot every 3 days for 3 weeks but then he’s good to go.

        5) Narcartics: She said these are very successful at dealing with pain but “may stop him up a bit”. He barely poops already so I’m thinking this is the last option.

So opinions and/or experience with any of these would be great. He’s 10.5yrs old and except for arthritis pain and now complete spacey-ness seems like he’s still goin’ strong so I’m hoping to keep him out of pain as much as possible!

No experience yet with this type of thing for my rabbits, but one of my dogs has arthritis and we really found the Recovery SA to work well.

I know it’s for dogs, but they make one for horses (which I know is weird that I’m suggesting horse supplements! But they have really similar systems and many issues, diseases, food and treatment are similar between horses and rabbits!)

I wonder if your vet could research if that formula would be something you could look at?

From the list you posted-I think I’d lean towards the shot Adeqan shot
