Are the Oxbow Essentials Adult rabbit pellets supposed to be the healthiest pellets? I’ve been thinking about switching to it from the Martin Timothy Adult rabbit food. The Martin ones are very small (scared of them choking, I spread them out on the floor) and I think I’ve been told the Oxbow ones are healthier. I found a Canadian site that sells 25lb bags of the oxbow food for $40 CAD and 10lb for $20. Should I switch to these pellets? I want to feed them healthier food. Would this affect Pinky in any way with his digestive issues? Next week he’s going hay-only (advised by vet). So he won’t be getting pellets then, but I don’t want to change too much in his diet after this unless it helps him. They still have a lot of their current Martin food to finish as well. Thanks!

I’m not familiar with the Martin brand, but Oxbow adult essentials is a very good food, definitely “tried and tested” by many here on the forum. If you find in your elimination diet that the pellets you are currently feeding seem to be the problem, then it might be worth trying a different brand, such as Oxbow.

What is the “healthiest” is a bit subjective, because every pellet brand might be deficient in one thing, so depending on your bun’s needs one might be better than the other.

I don’t know if they are the “healthiest”, but they are a better quality pellet. They a pretty popular around here too.

Thank you guys! I hope I don’t sound too dumb lol. It just seems like it’s the #1 brand for pellets for a lot of people. I’ll look at the link you posted. Thank you. 🙂

They are definitely a good one! They use them at the rescue I volunteer at as well. I think people also really like how well the company communicates about the ingredients and science behind the recipe.

On a sort of unrelated note oxbow has been putting out new lines of rabbit products and I got a water bottle that was defective. I contacted them and they seemed very concerned and interested about the quality of the bottle, which made me feel good about the quality of the food.
