Oval poops, what does it mean?

Dewey the bunny was diagnosed with bladder sludge and chronic kidney disease a few months ago.  Everything was going well with us giving him fluids via subQ.  The vet suggested we stop the subQ fluids, but I opted for once a week (down from twice a week).  

One evening (during the 2nd week of reduced subQ fluids), I noticed Dewey was stretching and not eating as much.  We immediately gave him some fluids and he was better, but I took him to the vet the next day.

Vet said rabbit was very dehydrated and gave Baytril and lots of fluids.  Rabbit was released several days later with diarrhea stains over back half of body and a very loud gurgling gut.  He had one large, soft poop that first night.  Stomach continued to loudly gurgle and no poops.  Then very tiny, very lightly colored poops for several more days with the gurgling stomach. 

His poops are larger and the usual color for him, but they are oval.  I read some previous posts on oval poops and megacolon, but I have never heard of this before.  

Your thoughts on oval poops?

What age is he and has he always had these large oval poops or just now producing them?

No, that is not Dewey in the avatar.  That’s his buddy Hamish.

Dewey is b/w 7 to 9 years of age.  The change is poops is very recent.  I really noticed it on Saturday, but could’ve been there a few days before, but the poops were so small.

Last night, he had tiny poops, but we hydrated him via SubQ.  Today, the size is better, but still oval in shape.

I suspect it’s to do more with his gut trouble at the moment. And maybe his posture???

He does have the colouration of rabbits that are most often affected by “megacolon” (sometimes called cow poop syndrome) but at his age, you would have seen symptoms by now. In fact, he likely wouldn’t have lived to be this age if he had that condition.

Has he had the sludge manually expressed from the bladder?

Does the vet know why he had diaorrhea while he was there?

The vet believes that this is a symptom of chronic kidney disease or as he called it kidney failure. 

The poops are about the same size, but just oval.  I noticed the other days some round ones amongst the ovals, but they are still there. Otherwise Dewey seems to have settled down.  He seems completely normal and happy.  He is very active. 

I thought as you did that if it was megacolon I would have seen something before this.  

I will just keep loving him and giving him lots of attention.  Thanks for your response!  As always, this forum is very helpful for me.
