  Keeping Them Outside
  
  Although it is not recommended to keep rabbits outside, that is where my rabbits will be staying. Now, before anyone starts explaining the dangers, etc, lets me explain how they will be living outside.
  When I was a kid, (MOD EDIT) we had a wooden playhouse built that was more like a small house. It had a bottom level (completely closed in with windows and doors) and a top level, (completely closed in with windows and doors) The rabbits would be staying on the top level of this play house, All play items and open doors have been closed in so its just a small room now. 6 × 5 or bigger. Due to the houses pentagon shape, i’m not 100 % sure. There is a couple of windows and a latter that leads up to the door. We are also considering adding shutters to the windows (covered in chicken wire) so when its hot, or snows we can close them.
  
  Our Weather::
  
  As living in North Carolina, we have no dry season. Our winters usually stay 20 degrees above (Fahrenheit) and our summers rarely make it up to 100 degrees. Spring and Fall are Warm and Cool. Perfect rabbit temperature. If it gets to hot, we’ll use a frozen ice pack or water bottle and ice in there water. If it gets to cold, we can bring them into the garage. How cold is to cold?
  
  Is this okay?
  
  As having lots of other pets, there is no space inside, nor do my parents want to rabbits inside. We do have the option of bringing them in the garage if need-be.

  We do not advocate outside for any reason. I would say that the 20 degrees and the high summer temperatures are a problem as well. It’s either too hot or too cold and neither are ideal for your rabbit.
  
  I think if you do not have the adequate space inside to keep them as part of the family it is not a good idea.

  Thanks for your opinion, but this isn’t a hutch on the ground, and its shaded, there’s a tree growing beside it, and we have ways to get it cooled down. The bottom of the room will be all blankets and we’ll add extra blankets and a cat bed in the winter.

  80 or above is too hot for a rabbit. You would need to cool their habitat in some way and ice packs/bottles won’t be enough.
  
  If you don’t have indoor space and already have lots of pets it may be best to wait until you’re older and have room/time to get a rabbit. Another thing to consider as you are younger is who will pay for vet care? Rabbit vet bills can get into the $100’s easily have you discussed with with your parents? Are they willing to pay for this? Time is another commitment. How much time are you going to be spending with them. One issue that comes up with outdoor rabbits is you don’t see them as much. Just having rabbits to have them is not fair to them. Unless you’re planning on spending most of your day in the playhouse with them?
  
  I would definitely discuss the cost of care with our parents and re-evaluate whether or not a rabbit is a good pet for you right now.

  I agree with the concerns of the forum leaders. But if you decide to continue on with getting bunnies, then please note: Due to the fact we are a House Rabbit Community, the advice and information that can be provided for you will be limited. Diet for outdoor bunnies is also a bit different than indoor bunnies as some advise more calories and protein to deal with the weather changes. If you decide that outdoor living is the only way to go, then I do suggest searching another resource that would be able to give you the advice you are looking for. Please see our forum post regarding this – it will also give you some resources about indoor vs outdoor that may be helpful for you before making a final decision
