Hi so I’m beginning to introduce fruit and veg in small quantities to my bunnies now they’re getting a bit older. I was just wondering what fruit and veg are safe? And what the popular ones are that they tend to eat? I was also wondering if they are ok to eat oranges? Looking around I can’t seem to find much in them other than the peel itself? Any help would be great Thankyou!

How old is your bun first of all ? You aren’t supposed to introduce fruits and vegs until they are a certain age
Orange is fine, but you want to introduce everything in small portions one at a time. There is a list of safe foods and amounts in here somewhere on this board. I probably wouldn’t feed the peel. Just go slow and see how your buns guts react

Oranges are safe, although there is a disagreement as to weather the peel is safe or not.
Carrot tops (not the tap root, which is the part we eat) are really popular with most buns.
Deep leafy greens tend to be popular and contain good levels of vitamins-mine love rocket, romaine, gem and lambs lettuce(but never iceberg) , bok choi, anything from the brassica family (broccoli, kohl rabi, cauliflower – although these can cause gas and some bunnies cannot tolerate them)

Generally fruit isnt the best thing to feed due to the sugar, but there is a wide variety of helathy vegtables, that are almost the same thing as treats to some rabbits

Here are 2 good articles on veggies and fruits, with lists of the best ones. Some can be fed daily, others should be more limited.

Thankyou everyone so much for the help! They are 6 and a half months old so I’m going slow to see how everything reacts. I’m going to try them with the carrot tops next and see how they enjoy them.
