Okay so we THOUGHT we’d have her spayed tomorrow, the vets we were interested in going to failed to mention they don’t do spays on Fridays and are completely booked this week. I called a vet that’s closer and they said they have only done neuters, should I trust them with Clem or is it risky?

They have never had any of their neuter patients die during and after operations.

Then the other clinic I called says they do see rabbits, have spayed and neuters, but the receptionist said that she’s only been working there for 2 years and has never had one die, from what she can recall. I asked when was the last time they had a spay or neuter and she said 8 months and it was a neuter.

Those are closer options to my location, I would like to go to Tulsa but I’d have to have my family member take a day off and I’m about to start with college this week.

In my honest opinion, I would wait and find an experienced vet who does spay. If you have to drive and someone has to take off work, I get that it sucks but it’s your bunnys life, better safe than sorry. A spay is a much more complicated procedure and I wouldn’t personally put my trust in a vet that had only done neuters. Take bun out of the area if you need to, you don’t want to live with the guilt of something goes wrong because you made a choice based on convenience.

Spays are much harder and much different than neuters. You should really look for a rabbit certified vet who has done hundreds if not thousands of rabbit spays before.

Thanks for the advice, we’ll go for the one in Tulsa then and figure out a good day for both of us. Probably not this month though. :/
