interior Alaska…
Several daily temperatures have already been broken across the
central and eastern interior this afternoon. In some places this
is the warmest weather this late in the Summer ever recorded.
Through 2pm… record high temperatures so far include…
Eielson AFB… … … … … … 88 degrees
Fairbanks Airport… … … … 87 degrees
Northway… … … … … … … 82 degrees
Temperatures will continue to climb for several more hours.
Clouds and cooler air will begin to move into the area this
evening… and while Monday will be a warm day… records highs are
not expected in the interior.
An additional statement will be issued by the National Weather
Service later this evening after temperatures peak for the day.
