I had typed up this huge page about my rabbits, and my computer ate it. Second time is the charm
My name is Alina and previously I had one bunny named Pj. Pj is a lionhead buck, 9 months old, and recently neutered. He has been a difficult bunny and does not like being touched at all. He loves treats and binkys all the time but pretty much ignores us.
Last night we aquired a newbunny from a friend of a friend who couldn’t care for him anymore. He is a very overweight, 2 year old Himalayan dwarf lop, or so she told me. He has chronic poopy butt, which has been difficult cause I’d like to wash his butt but I can’t cause he is defnitely not used to me yet. He lived in a cage suitable for a hamster (he now has a huge NIC house), got carrots as his only veggie, ate a lot of fattening pellets and didn’t get much exercise. So he’s about 7 pounds at last visit. He sheds more than any animal I have ever seen (and we used to have a St Bernard!) so I worry about him getting a hairball.
Per vet advice he is getting two teaspoons of oxbow bunny T a day, unlimited hay, and two papaya pellets. He also has a huge cage to move around in, and probably an hour after we brought him home he binkyed so I think he’s pretty dang happy about it.
We’re coming onto his second night here, and I’m trying to get him used to me immediately so I’ve been siting on the floor next to his cage doing homework and what not. He’s having a ball laying on the towel I set out for him.
This time, by god, I’m going to do it right. Plus get back into training my PJ so he’ll be more social.
Well thank you so much!
