Well I went on bunny quest today with my friend Mike. He’s been in love with Indy and tries to take him home with him every chance he gets. We tried to go back to the feed store to see if they had any of Indy’s brothers or sisters left still because of how friendly Indy is. No such luck
Well I don’t know, the lady had like 8 fuzzy little lop bunnies and I couldn’t stop myself and then I don’t know how it went. I could have put that money to the spueter but my heart melted. Mike and I both sat there for 2 hours holding the same rabbits. I wonder if she thought we were crazy or great owners. She gave me a number of a local vet that will spueter for only $60! I will call them Monday. If so, then I can get them done now! I just feel guilty getting another since I don’t have anyone fixed yet.
Mike is in the process of building me a nice hutch on wheels, I found a design that a member has here that I liked so he’s going to build us both a nice hutch, and then new baby bunny…I think I’m naming her Blossom, will get Indy’s old grid cage. So that will look a little nicer in my room than my ghetto sheet top cage lol. Right now she’s in a temporary store bought cage which can work until the new one is built!
I’m feeling more prepared for this one though, my room is clean, everyones cage is sparkly fresh and I even bought a new 5’x8′ area rug so I don’t have to look at the carpet that my dad won’t take out because of my fish tank. I already see poo’s in her liter tray! Yipee!

It’s not fair. I have been looking for a harlequin loppy female for over a year as a mate for Mimzy (since I missed that one at Petco)…or just as a snuggle bunny for me. *pokes Lintini with the picture stick even though these are more than enough to rot my teeth*
*grumble* Okay, I admit it…she’s beyond adorable. You should’ve named her Prosh…cuz she is PRECIOUS!!! If for any reason you change your mind, let me give you my address…lolz.

I hadn’t realized that harlequins came in different shades like that until doing a search of them. The black and white is even more striking than the normal color. You just don’t see many harlequins here. It would seem the Rex and the Flemish really have dominance in this state, primarily for their showing purposes I would guess.
There’s always about a hundred of them at the fair each year. -

We have harlys here! OMG there was some cute ones at the humane society today.. bunnies everywhere. Most of the rabbit advocate people brought in their own buns, and there were so many I just wanted to stuff in my coat and smuggle out… *sighs* -

Linz, Blossom is cute as a button, I can see why you fell in love. –It is funny how you learn to manage space when you really want another, isn’t it? Once they are bonded it will become easy. Until then, you will be on triple bunny duty, so it is good you work at a coffee place — you will need the caffeine…j/k!

I tried calling the humane society director sunday,monday, and now today. No luck. Maybe she went on vacation. I’m just going to take my entire paycheck next week and just go get Indy done, I can’t take anymore of his obsession with me. Hopefully it will die down a bit.

Because my house is two stories, my parents rarely come downstairs because it’s just a few bedrooms down here and a family room. My mom will come down here for laundry but they don’t open my door because they know Indy is out.
I’m really excited that I mailed out my application for the voucher. My checks even have the humane society on them so I know the lady will probably get a chuckle over that

Teaching huh? Good for you! I love music, but not enough to teach it. Can’t even manage teaching my kids to play piano. *shakes head* No patience. I don’t like being onstage, MB, that’s the weirdness of it. But at one time I loved being able to make people smile with my voice.
After years of abuse (yelling at the kids when they were young and intractable) I have nothing left to even call a squeak right now. But the daughter and I are sitting around watching Idol in the eves and it’s funny to see how many people think they’re going to get past Simon. ^_^

I wasn’t as lucky as you, when I went to my local Petco yesterday there weren’t any adoptees available…I was kind of hoping to ‘find’ a nice bunny like Blossom to perk Mimzy up. lol…. How are Indy and Bun doing? Are they getting used to her scent yet?

I agree with you, I think it’s a good way to be.
Of course, the hard thing in that situation is to see the animals out there that you wish you could give that time and attention to and you’ve already caught your limit. But yes, I get days where I wish I could just spend all my time with one or the other of my pets and there just aren’t enough hours in the day.
Also, I think it depends on where you live as well. Here in Alaska, I just don’t see it as right to have too many pets either for space reasons, or because of the weather. I have felt so sorry for our dogs, who were all outdoor animals. I can think of some harsh winters they spent, despite all the things we did to keep them comfortable. I wouldn’t put an animal through that again for all the tea in China.
That’s why having bunnies is such a delight. They are right here with me in my room and I can see and talk to and play with them anytime I like, don’t have to put on three layers of clothing and take a flashlight. ^_^ -

Bun could care less about her scent as long as she has raisins.
This is disturbing and I’m glad Indy is getting fixed in the upcoming week or next…I hoped into bed to nap, i’ve had little sleep because of my band tour this week. He sprayed. He sprayed my face. I let out a shriek, put him in his cage and showered and changed my pillow. Indy isn’t taking it well so the sooner I can get him neutered the better. I hate it how he does that in my bed. IN MY FACE. It was so stupid cuz we were snuggling too for about 30min and he was tooth purring, then I stopped and *DIG DIG DIG* *Spray* AHHYEAAAAAAAA!!! I think he is jealous and upset so I’m pretty frantic to get his neuter done so I don’t have to deal with the peeing. Why is it only in my bed? Jeezussssss. Blossom had free time in the guest room and was binky’n all over. So darn cute. Indy is currently shaking his cage in frustration to why he can’t come out. Blarrgh!!! -
Petco’s don’t sell bunnies down here, neither do Petsmarts. Interesting.

Mimz I would love to see photos of the area you live in, is it a city, or..see I have this image in my head of how I think Alaska looks like from all the travel pictures, is it like a snow covered mountains and the northern borialus (spelling?) and just beautiful!? Oh that’s good! They don’t do that here either, or at least at the ones locally. Just cats -.- Petfood Express will have dogs from the shelter to adopt. I used to help them out and play with the dogs and interact with people wanting to adopt. I’d walk around with the dog, try to catch peoples attention, or play

Well unfortunately people do purchase animals without thinking, then see how truly hard it is to care for them and throw them to the side. Guinea pigs also have a huge problem with this, you should check out craigslist and see how many people want to rehome their pigs. It’s terrible. I have the means and the money to care for a 3rd and I am waiting for my voucher to come in the mail for Indy’s neuter. I agree it wasn’t the greatest idea to bring her home before Indy’s neuter, but I am glad I got her because I can properly care for her and give her a great life. I don’t mean to advocate to bring tons of rabbits home, I do my best to give them hours of play in different bunny proof bedrooms and have them in large NIC grid cages when I am not around. I love my animals to death and want what is best for them. I had been thinking about a third rabbit for awhile and I knew if I was helping Mike find a rabbit of his own I was probably getting a 3rd as well. But you are totally right, not having them fixed first and not trying a bond yet…probably not very smart of me. Even so I am very willing have 3 separate cages if it doesn’t work out. I have a good feeling though for how laid back Indy is that I can at least get one bond. One step at a time though. Hopefully the voucher comes tomorrow or the next and then I can set up the vet appointment! Then get to do it all over again for Bun
But I hope I didn’t give anyone the wrong idea, especially lurkers. Because you should always be prepared for a new pet and know everything you can on how to provide for your new family member and what to expect. Like, I knew she wasn’t going to be liter trained, and boy is she messy, and the cage grinds have to be doubled up because she can stick her head through it, so I had to buy extra grids and expect to clean her cage a few times a day. Also, she isn’t going to stay that tiny and cute, well probably still very cute but she will grow up and those poo’s get bigger and the messes get bigger too! I think that is also a misconception people have. They see this tiny ball of fluff and then it grows up and is stinky (only because they don’t clean it’s tray often) then complain eww I have a huge stinky bunny then give it to a shelter because it lost its novelty. Anyways, I hope everyone understands that my animals are in a loving well cared for home and that neuter day is right around the corner for Indy and spay day is around the corner for Bun as well Still a bit away for Blossom though!
