I have a tiny little lop eared rabbit names Snuggi. He is usually very very playful and loves to run around and try to get our attention. But today I noticed he was acting very weird.
It’s summer time and it’s hot out so I know my bunny must be hot and tired, but the second I bring him into the house he’s full of energy and hops around the house everywhere. When I go to get him out of his cage he runs to the back and waits patiently for me to get him. Whenever I give him knew water, hay, or food he always hops right over to drink it, play in it, or eat it. But this afternoon I refilled his water, food, and gave him fresh hay and he just sat in the front of his cage without reacting. Then, I noticed a carrot from the night before that he had yet to eat, and he always eats his carrots.
I assumed he was just tired so I went to bring him in. Usually I have to open the front of his cage before he goes to the back (most people think my rabbit doesn’t want to be taken from his cage, but he never hops back to the front when I open the back) but today he just sat in the front. He let me grab him and didn’t try hopping to the back.
Then I brought him inside and he was still acting weird. Usually he hops around and looks in his indoor food dishes for something to eat, but he just hopped right under the coffee table and layed down. (Sorry if this next part doesn’t make sense). We live in a one floor house and there is a door leading to the hallway with out bedrooms, and that door must be closed or else Snuggi makes a dash for my sisters bedroom, today he didn’t try to go there at all.
Another thing Snuggi loves to do is eat our broom, so the laundry room door is always closed because we don’t want him destroying the broom, but he didn’t even try to get into the kitchen once today. We also have this super fuzzy blanket that Snuggi will chase for hours if we drag it along the floor, and he’s quick to hop to, or even jump onto your lap, when someone uses it. But when I brought it out he didn’t react at all.
I know my bunnies behavior very well, and he just seemed so different today and I’ve never seen him act like this. Does anyone know what may have gotten into him or why he’s acting like this. He’s only one years old by the way, I don’t know if age has anything to do with it.
