Nutri cal? And probiotics?

I just found out about this Nutri cal (for cats and dogs) product and as Boonie’s lost weight and has little appetite I’m wondering about giving it to her.
Does anyone use it? And how do u use it?
Also being in Australia, I can’t seem to find it anywhere here, but there’s a product called Nutri pet (for cat and dogs), is that the same thing?

Also for any Australians out there, what kind of probiotics do u use? Again finding it hard to get the ones I hear our US friends talking about.

I would suggest asking your vet about those products. I’ve never heard of them before. Are you able to get Critical Care? When my Bindi’s weight goes down, I supplement his diet with Critical Care.

Fiberplex by Protexin is a pro-and prebiotic paste for rabbits and small rodents, from what I can see, they have an Aussie distributor. http://www.protexin.com/worldwide-distributors/2/australia It’s a paste that helps get the tummy in order for small pets. My vet clinic sells it but I have been fortunate enough never to have had to use it. It is a reputable brand though, and I have used the probiotic paste they make for dogs with my dog when her tummy has been out of order.

Critical Care has an Aussie equivalent called CrittaCare, that I know some Aussie members here use/have used with their sick bunnies.

There is also a yest-supplement called Anima Strath that can be given to small animals. We have an Indian member who’s recently started using it with her bunny. I’ve never tried it but it has the same type of yeast that the Fiberplex has. From what I can see, it’s sold in Australia.

Supplements for cats and dogs can be a bit problematic because of the differences in nutritional needs between carni/omnivores and herbivores. While fat is very useful for cats and dogs when you need to fatten them up, rabbits’ tummies are not “designed” to process a lot of dietary fat.

Does Boonie have a low appetite for anything or just her normal diet?

Boonie is slowly regaining her appetite after being on baytril and having various antibiotic for her eyes (which she obviously consumed a lot of).
Her poop is still quite dark and lots of odd shapes.

So I’m really just hoping to help sort her tummy out so she can get back to normal.

I have critical care but she hates it and force feeding her is currently impossible due to her stressing out. I’ve tried and tried and although I can protect myself from her scratches and bites, it’s her stress that’s the main problem, it’s at the point where if I force feed her then she stresses so much that she eats nothing else all day. But if I don’t force feed her she eats some pellets and veg. So I think she gets more food into her if I let her go about it her own way. But still she is eating no where near enough.
