my bun isn’t eating his poops(the ones he is suppose to eat). I’m getting a tad worried because I’ve heard that there are health issues involved in this. Is there any thing wrong with him?Just so you know, he is a male mini-rex about 10-months-old and a mishiovous little thing.

Usually when bunny stops eating their cecals it has to do with a diet that is too rich. He’s at that transitional age where though he could still eat food for babies, he could begin to get weaned off alfalfa and into Timothy based hay and pellets. Usuallly the switch to a more adult diet happens anywhere from 7 months to a year. So your bunny might be ready to do a gradual change (don’t change diet drastically otherwise that can cause digestive problems)

What does your bunny’s diet consist of right now: Include what type of pellets he is eating (what hay base is it and does it have any other stuff in it like seeds, dried fruit etc) What hay does he get? What kinds of veggies, and if fruits and treats, how much?

Once you wean him to the timothy hay based pellets is should get better, just make sure that the timothy based pellets are high in fiber and low in fat. What brand do you use, and/or does it show the nutritional content? (of the timothy based)
Also what other stuff does he get? what type of greens? What type of hay?

I’m just wondering….what makes you believe that he’s not eating his cecals?  Are you sure that he’s not eating any or is he just producing too many?  Are you feeding veggies & hay as well?

i’ve been feeding him plenty of hay and greens. I have been spying on my mom and she was feeding him some carrots and all of the other sweets!

Uh oh, hahaha, that could do it! I do know that mini rexes can often have weight problems much more easily than other bunnies because they are so petite, so I’d let your mom know that even though its fun to give carrots, its not very healthy for him and could make him sick. How about having her hand feed him some pellets from time to time? You could cut down on how many pellets you give him and let your mom feed him some throughout the day. Its a lot of fun when a bunny eats pellets out of your hand

What is in fiesta food? Does it have dried fruits, seeds and/or cereal stuff in it? Does it have a nutritional section you can list?
