not eating after spay

charlie was spayed about 36 hours ago and still is not eating on her own. last night i went to feed critical care and she started munching veggies but doesn’t seem interested this morning. I got some critical care into her finally but am wondering how long it took your buns to start eating after surgery? i know it’s a big deal for them – just feels like she’s never going to start eating again

And i am in contact with the vet. we went in yesterday to give lots of critical care and am waiting to see if they want me back today. And yes they gave pain meds although our last dose was last night. they did mention maybe giving more if she wasn’t better today.

Any poops? That’s good that she started munching veggies. Does she act hungry when you feed her the critical care? If she is acting like she wants to eat, then it seems like she is managing her pain well. Every bun recovers at different rates. Luna recovered from her spay quickly; she was eating veggies and pooping less than 8 hours after her surgery but it wasn’t until the 4th or 5th day that she started eating as much as she did before the spay.

While she may not be eating completely on her own yet, the important thing is that she IS eating, so I’d say she’s doing ok . Definitely keep up with the critical care.

It took my girl a few days. That’s pretty normal, I think.
