Not eating!!

First things first, I did call a vet before coming here and he couldn’t offer much advice since he isn’t an exotic animal vet. Slim pickings this late at night. For some reason all my medical emergencies happen past normal clinic hours. 

I got home from work around 6 and Biddy seemed fine. I gave her some new treats that I had just bought and I’m now terrified that’s what made her sick. I noticed around 8 or 9 that she wasn’t really eating but she also usually sleeps around that time so I didn’t think much of it. 

Around 10 I started worrying because that’s when she normally starts coming alive and eating and pooping lots and playing. She seemed completely disinterested in everything and just sat in her cage even though she had free reign of the whole room. I offered her a treat which she refused, so I tried giving her some simethicone but she refused that too, which is weird because she normally loves it. I can’t get her to eat anything or drink. She pooped two or three hard, dark coloured pellets about an hour ago but nothing since then. 

She’s laying on my bed right now and it seems almost like she can’t get comfortable. She tried stretching out a few minutes ago but seemed to change her mind and now she’s sort of just sitting there. 

Help!! I’m so scared! I can’t stop crying! If the vet doesn’t know what to do I don’t know what else I can do!! Will she be okay until morning at least when I can bring her to the exotic animal vet?? Is there anything I can do? I’m still trying to push food and water on her but she’s ignoring it all.

That’s common unfortunately!

Is this the same rabbit you posted about chewing her stitches? (The thread you’ve just updated?)

So she has passed some poos fairly recently?

I don’t know what time it is in your part of the world but could you take her to the non-exotic vet anyway. He can at least check her temp and give some pain meds.
If you have an appropriate thermometer at home, you can check her temp yourself. Are her ears feeling colder then what they’d normally feel like?

I think giving the simethicone can’t hurt. It sounds like you’ll need to make her have it this time. I’m not saying this will fix anything, just that you have nothing to lose by giving it. And who knows, it just might help!

If this is the same bun that was recently spayed, I’m a bit concerned she might be having some complications. Especially if she only chewed at stitched 2 weeks after the op. Some possibilities are she was have a reaction to the material they used. Or she’s developed some internal adhesions.
Even if she comes good overnight, I really advise a check up with your exotics vet to go over this.

If you have a plain dosing syringe (or anything for that matter) I found straight hydration works… Water lots of it in little doses.. Trickle it in the side of her mouth and eventually she may start to lap at it which is a good sign… Ditto Jersey, if you can get her to take the simethicone do so failing that any vet in a storm…
